石菊，北京大学经济学院长聘副教授、党委副书记、博士生导师。在美国波士顿大学获得经济学博士学位，主要研究领域为健康经济学和医疗体制改革，重点关注医疗保险制度的制定与评估，以及药品政策对医疗系统和患者健康的影响。石菊博士的多篇学术论文发表于国内外顶级学术期刊，包括Journal of Public Economics，Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Health Economics，《经济学（季刊）》等。多项研究课题获得国家自然科学基金委资助，并承担多项省部级卫健委、医保局委托课题。 | ||
讲座内容摘要 | We study how public-sector regulation shapes spatial spillovers to private markets. We develop a spatial competition model with vertical differentiation, which predicts that price-only regulation lowers private providers’ profitability and induces net exit at all distances, whereas price-and-variety regulation induces net entry nearby and net exit farther away. Using geocoded registry data from China’s retail drug market, we confirm these spatial predictions. The model also shows how product differentiation shapes welfare through private price responses, with qualitative evidence consistent with this mechanism. Together, these results show why price-only and price-and-variety regulation can generate different spatial patterns of crowd-in and crowd-out. | ||
